who I am

Ellen Leonard was a researcher before transitioning into a career in health and wellness.  Trained at Kripalu in Yoga and Ayurveda, she also holds a B.S. from Brandeis University and a Master's degree from Indiana University.  She is also a trained Health and Wellness Coach and is currently enrolled in a Positive Psychology program.

I have been practicing yoga for almost 20 years, leaving a career in research science to begin yoga teacher training. I quickly realized that yoga was only part of my journey, and began training at Kripalu School of Yoga and Ayurveda.  After over a year of training at Kripalu, I completed several certifications:  Ayurvedic Lifestyle Consultant, Yoga and Ayurveda Specialist, and a 500 hour Yoga Teacher Certification with a focus in Ayurveda. I am passionate about Yoga and Ayurveda, incorporating their practices into my daily life.  They are both beautiful practices that I am excited to spend the rest of my life exploring.  Check out this recent article in the Indianapolis Star about me and a typical Ayurveda cleanse.

I am a Wellcoaches Certified Health and Wellness Coach and a National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach through ICHWC focusing on people's strengths to help them achieve their personal wellness goals.  I earned a Masters degree in Adult Education, giving me unique insight into designing effective health and wellness programs and curriculum.  I am also associate faculty teaching at Indiana University (IUPUI), where I have created several online wellness courses, including Yoga and Health Coaching courses.  I also completed a year-long Positive Psychology program with Tal Ben-Shahar, author of Happier.

I am a huge nerd.  I use the latest research-based practices to help my clients thrive.  I believe that everything in life can be full of fun and laughter, carefully creating a non-judgmental and safe environment for my clients.  In my spare time I enjoy supervising my chickens, gardening, and cooking/setting food on fire.
